Giovanni Stefano Menocchio: R.P. Joan. Stephani Menochij... Commentarij totius S. Scripturae: ex optimis quibusque Authoribus collecti. Editio novissima... Lugduni [Lyon]: Sumptibus Francisci Comba, 1703. Two volumes in one. Folio (36 cm) in full early/period leather (sheepskin?) with gilt-tooled spine; [16], 404 pp.; [2], 446, [6] pp.; engraved title-page vignette, woodcut decorations and initials.

Two volumes bound as one. An uncommon, relatively early edition of Menocchio’s commentaries, first published in 1630: OCLC locates no other examples of this 1703 printing. Binding with wear to the edges and extremities, some loss and fraying to the spine head; text block cracked but holding at the midpoint gutter, with the title-page of vol. II loose but present; an early owner has tried to discreetly add loin cloths in ink to the naked putti on the first title-page; first and last few leaves with moisture damage to the top edges resulting in some loss at the corners, not affecting any text; occasional light damp-stain to the edges elsewhere, a few small spots, else quite clean and bright.
