Strange Cults and Secret Societies of Modern London.

By Elliott O’Donnell. Published in New York by E.P. Dutton in 1935.
First American printing.

Elliott O'Donnell [1872-1965] wrote dozens of books about the ghosts of
England and elsewhere and claimed to have been haunted by one at age 5.
He also claimed to have been strangled by a phantom in Dublin. He
claimed lots of stuff- and was also a trained thespian who acted on
stage and in early movies, not that that probably had anything to do
with his subsequent career as an excellent showman who could weave a
darn good tale. Wikipedia notes- “As he became known as an authority on
the supernatural, he was called upon as a ghost hunter. He also lectured
and broadcast (radio and television) on the paranormal in Britain and
the United States. In addition to his more than 50 books, he wrote
scores of articles and stories for national newspapers and magazines”.
This is one of his few books that does not deal with the Supernatural
directly, though of course when talking of strange cults and hidden
societies one comes very, very close.

Hardcover. 5.5”x7.5”. 279 pages, dust jacket. Bookplate. Book with minor
wear, light soil. Jacket with wear and chipping, soil. [46493] $150
