cloth; xxxvi, 608 pages, followed by 80 plates, 16 of them in color with 
tissue guards, including the frontispiece. Copy # 583 of 1000 copies per 
the limitation slip on the front pastedown. George Baxter developed a 
method of producing color prints using oil-based inks that produced the 
first inexpensive and commercially viable alternative to hand-colored 
prints. This is a detailed and descriptive catalogue of Baxter's work.
