 38489 Death Of Washington, Dec: 14. A.d. 1799 Not Attributed VG Framed color Currier, N N Y 1850   Hand-colored lithograph. Currier, Nathaniel, publisher. "Death of Washington, Dec: 14. A. D. 1799." New York, ca. 1850. Measures: 9 1/8 x 12 3/4 inches (235 x 324 mm) - image and text, margins. Lightly toned, some light dust smudging. Variant with "Domestics" on left and "Grandchildren" on right. Colors in good state of preservation. Not examined out of interesting 19th century carved hardwood frame. Gale 1652. Nathaniel set up shop alone, working as "N. Currier, Lithographer" until 1856. The name Currier & Ives first appeared in 1857, when Currier invited the company's bookkeeper and accountant James Merritt Ives (1824–95) to become his partner.  270.00
