[Rarebooks] FS: 1900s Northern New Jersey Countryside and Country Towns Photo Album

[Joslin Hall Rare Books]

A charming collection of c.1900 photos of a family and their 
explorations in northern New Jersey, with identifiable places in the 
Watchung Reservation and Scotch Plains, including the dam at Seeley’s 
Pond and Cook’s Dam. The pictures include landscapes, places such as a 
stone quarry, country store, ponds, houses, meadows and woods trails. 
The people stand in poses, ride horses while aiming rifles, stand on 
bridges and upturned tree root balls, and generally appear to be 
enjoying themselves. A pleasant and interesting visual journey through 
rural northern New Jersey at the turn of the prior century.

Album. 10”x7”, 53 photos, mostly 3.5”x3.5”, glued onto 14 leaves, mostly 
two per page. One additional real-photo postcard laid in loosely. Covers 
with some wear and light soil, corner damage, spots where several photos 
were removed, one page is a torn-out half sheet loosely laid in. [44245]

Standard courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are

outside the U.S. will be billed at cost. We accept returns if we are
