1920s U.S.S. Pennsylvania Battleship Photo Album.

An interesting album of mid-1920s images showing daily life aboard ship,
officers and sailors, interiors, the ship at sea and on maneuvers, city
scenes in Panama and of the Canal, and so on. Some of the images are
identified in handwriting on the negative. The only dated photo shows
the ship in drydock in March, 1925. “USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) was the
lead ship of the Pennsylvania class of United States Navy
super-dreadnought battleships. She was launched on 16 March 1915, and
commissioned on 12 June 1916” [Wikipedia]. During the inter-war period
she operated in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. She served a
distinguished career during WWII ands was then used as one of the target
ships in the Operation Crossroads atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in
1946. In 1948 she was sunk off Kwajalein atoll.

Album. 12.5”x10. 60 7”x5” images, 6 3.25”x5” and 6” images, and an
8”x10” image (with mounts for a second, missing image) all mounted with
paper corner mounts. Covers with some soil and light wear, some
scattered old water-staining and light waving to the top outer page
corners for most of the album. [46781] $850
