(2),xx,234pp. Illustrated with 46 engraved hand-colored plates with approx. 2,800 depictions of shells, each plate with a blank guard leaf. Publisher's deluxe binding of 1/2 dark green morocco, pictorial gilt tooled spine, over marbled boards, expertly rebacked with the original spine strip laid back down. T.e.g. A de-acquisitioned copy (in 1962) from the "Linnean Society of London" library with its bookplate, mounted library rules, etc. No markings on the binding.  Bound in before the title page are 2 later leaves of bibliographic material related to this work.    $450.00 (trade discount allowed)
