George Waddington: A History of the Reformation on the Continent. London: Duncan and Malcolm, 1841. First edition. Three volumes, 8vo (22.5 cm), in full nineteenth-century goatskin by Hayday (with the firm's stamp on the endpaper versos), gilt-tooled borders and elaborately gilt-tooled spines; marbled endpapers and page edges. Bindings with some light wear to the extremities, rubbing to the joints, a few minor spots, a touch of sunning to the spines; early owner's neat signature (Horatio Carlyon, 1851) on the endpaper versos, small bookseller label on the front paste-down of vol. I; light spotting to the endpapers and title-pages, else the contents are exceptionally clean and fresh, firmly bound. A handsome set.
