Additionally SIGNED on the title page by Bernard Malamud: "For a dear 
sweet man/and good friend/an outsider/Bern." Meredith has written in 
pencil near Malamud's inscription an explanation of how he was seated 
near Howard when he inscribed the book. Laid in is a brief TYPED LETTER 
SIGNED from Malamud apologizing for signing the book. Some dust spotting
