(INCUNABULA) Bartholomaeus Pisanus (Bartholomew of Pisa). QUADRAGESIMALE... DE CONTEMPTU MUNDI. [Edited by Johannes Mapellus]. Milan: Uldericus Scinzenzeler. 1498. First Edition.  4to. ff.(154) complete with blank leaf I8. Double column. Not rubricated. Old private library small oval ownership stamp on title and a 2-line old ink inscription which has been crossed out. Cont. limp vellum, inked title on spine. A small hole on the spine, and vellum is a bit soiled, but a lovely, clean text.    $4,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
The Lenten sermons of Bartholomaeus of Pisa, here first printed in 1498, (later reprinted in Venice, 1503 and Lyons 1519). Bartholomew of Pisa (d. 1401), was an Italian Franciscan. This is the only incunable edition. See Goff B168; HC 2530; BMC VI p. 775. ISTC ib00168000.
