>From Haaretz: “Soskin was born in Russia and came to Palestine in 1905 and seven years later established himself as a photographer, opening a studio on Herzl Street in Tel Aviv. Soskin was considered the municipal photographer: He often took pictures in Tel Aviv at various official events (his main client was the Tel Aviv Committee). His photographs were given as gifts to senior officials and to national institutions; thousands of postcards were printed from his photos, and everyone knew him. Today he is considered the greatest documenter of the city from its founding until the mid-1920s.... From 1914 to 1933 Soskin maintained his studio at 24 Herzl Street, down the block from the new town’s principal landmark, the Herzliah Gymnasium. There, in a studio named "Photographia A. Soskin" he worked until 1933.
