(MUSIC) Stravinsky, Igor. ORPHEUS. PAS DE DEUX. A 11-1/2" x 9" sheet entirely in Stravinsky's hand, a musical quotation from his score of the ballet Orpheus, which he completed in 1947. Inscribed by Stravinsky: "Some measures from "Orpheus," Pas de Deux [one of the episodes]. For you, Dear friend Merle Armitage. Cordially, I. Stravinsky, 1947." Matted & framed (21-3/4" x 17-3/4") under glass.    $4,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Stravinsky collaborated with choreographer George Balanchine. It became the first performance in 1948 of the NYC Ballet Company, which first was called the Ballet Society. Stravinsky and Armitage were life long friends who collaborated on numerous presentations at The Hollywood Bowl.
