London: Boosey & Hawkes, n.d. [1964]. Folio (9-1/4" x 12") in printed 
beige wraps. Contains all 10 songs including "I Bought Me a Cat," "At 
the River," and the Shaker song "Simple Gifts." INSCRIBED and SIGNED to 
the publisher Stuart Wright in 1977 by the composer on the title page. 
Also SIGNED by bass-baritone singer and actor William Warfield in the 
same year. Light soiling to wraps. Near Fine.

William Warfield sang the premiere performances of the version for 
soloist and orchestra of Set I of Aaron Copland's Old American Songs in 
1955, and of the version for soloist and piano of Set II of the 
collection in 1958. He also recorded both sets of the songs. He won a 
Grammy in the "Spoken Word" category for his outstanding narration of 
Copland's LINCOLN PORTRAIT. Warfield is perhaps best known, however, for 
his rendition of "Ol Man River" in the 1951 film SHOW BOAT.
