(CALIFORNIA) Troncoso, Diego. CALIFORNIAS ANTIGUA Y NUEVA... Mexico. 1787. (11-3/4" x 14-3/4"). The original copper engraved map of "The Californias" which has been removed from Palou's LIFE OF JUNIPERO SERRA. 1787. The issue with "Mar Pacifico" printed opposite the California coast. Some light soiling. Two small tears on the left hand margin (not affecting any engraved area) neatly repaired. Carl Wheat notes that this map is important for being the first on which a boundary line was drawn between Lower and Upper California.
