(8),288pp. Orig. sheep, red morocco spine label. Hinges rubbed and top of spine a bit chipped. Preliminary blank with inscription, "Caleb Cushing's Book, 1779," and with his name and 1779 on the title page. Some light soiling, but a decent copy in its original binding. Note: one leaf (pp. 23-24) has a torn portion repaired by sewing with very thin white thread, not uncommon in American 18th century books. There is no text loss.    $750.00 (trade discount allowed)
This is the second American edition, although Howes records a 1772 printing which does not exist. The first Boston edition of 1677 is a very rare book. Howes H756. Sabin 33446. Evans 1420.
