John Dryden: The Wild Gallant: A Comedy. As it was Acted at the Theater-Royal, by His Majesties Servants. London: Printed by H. Hills, for H. Herringman, at the Blew-Anchor, in the Lower-Walk of the New-Exchange, 1684. Quarto (22 cm) bound in modern, but not recent, three-quarter cloth and marbled boards, gilt-lettered spine title; [6], 55, [3] pp. ESTC R13137; Wing D2401; Woodward & McManaway 487.

An early printing of Dryden's earliest play ("the first attempt I made in Dramatique Poetry"), a comedy much influenced by, if not directly copied from, the works of Richard Brome, with elements of Sir John Suckling thrown in for good measure. Mild browning and occasional spotting to the leaves, one or two leaves with short tears to the edges, not affecting the text; light wear to the extremities of the binding.
