1851 Book on Mollusks & Their Shells with 18 Hand-Colored illustrated 
Plates.

A Popular History of the Mollusca by Mary Roberts. Published in London 
by Reeve and Benham in 1851.“Comprising a familiar account of their 
classification, instincts, and habits, and of the growth and 
distinguishing characters of their shells”. Illustrated with 16 lovely 
colored plates. Mary Roberts [1788-1864] was a prolific natural history 
author and editor.

Publisher’s embossed green cloth with a gilt-impressed snail on the 
cover and elaborate spine decorations. 5.25”x6.5. ix+ 396 pages, plus 18 
hand-colored plates. Covers with minor wear and light soil and pages 
with a little scattered foxing; rear hinge reglued.  $200

All payments must be in U.S. funds and negotiable through a U.S. bank; 
We accept checks, money orders, American Express, Visa and Mastercard. 
Books may be reserved pending payment; Institutions may be billed; 
Standard courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are 
$5.00 for the first book, and $2.00 for each additional book. Shipments 
outside the U.S. will be billed at cost. We accept returns if we are 
notified within ten days of your receipt of the books-please ask for 
full instructions and terms. Massachusetts residents must add 6.25% 
state sales tax.
