1892 Young California Nautical Men on Roof with Small Piano Cabinet

An intriguing image to say the least, given an unexpected nautical theme 
with the inscription in the negative- “From Larboard to Starboard”. From 
their outfits these could well be steamboat men, and the ink note 
-“Calla Shasta 1892” on the back undoubtedly refers to the California 
legends of young Calla Shasta, “child of the firs”. Where they got the 
roof and the piano remains a mystery lost in the waves of time. An 
altogether unlikely image.

Cabinet photo. 8.5”x6.5” [mount], 7.25”x4.5” [image]. Image with some 
soil and scuffing. Mount shot, with paper residue glued tightly all over 
it. Also some soil, but that’s the least of the issue. [46169]   $125
