By John J. O’Neill and published by Ives Washburn Inc. in New York in
1945.
O’Neil was the Science Editor of the New York Herald Tribune, and this
text was “passed for publication, on grounds of military security, by
the Bureau of Public Relations, War Department”. After giving a
background to the science of the atom, the atomic bomb, and atomic
energy, the text explores its implication for the future, with chapters
including- Extinction Faces the Coal Industry; Can the Petroleum
Industry Survive?; What Will Happen to the Automobile?; Ships, Planes
and Rockets, Unlimited; Medical Aspects of Atomic Energy; and The Atom
and Everybody’s Business.
Softcover. 8”x10.5”, 94 pages. Covers with some wear and soil; printed
on wood pulp paper and rather browned. The covers are held on by two
small stapled and are basically detached from the body of the book.

Books may be reserved pending payment; Institutions may be billed;
Standard courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are
$5.00 for the first book, and $2.00 for each additional book. Shipments
outside the U.S. will be billed at cost. We accept returns if we are
notified within ten days of your receipt of the books-please ask for
full instructions and terms. Massachusetts residents must add 6.25%
state sales tax.
