1930s Jacques Naegeli Gstaad Girl with Cat Studio Portrait Silver Photo.
Signed “Phot. J. Naegeli Gstaad” and in a Naegeli studio folder. Jacques
Naegeli [1885-1971] was born near Lake Constance and apprenticed and
worked for several photographers before striking out on his own and
opening his “Photo Suisse” studio two days before the outbreak of the
First World War. After military service he returned to Gstaad and
re-opened as “Photo-Haus J. Naegeli”. He was known not only for his
landscapes and other photography, but also for film-making, publishing
books of his photographs, and traveling widely. “My religion is to be in
nature,” Naegeli said of his life and work.

Books may be reserved pending payment; Institutions may be billed;
Standard courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are
$5.00 for the first book, and $2.00 for each additional book. Shipments
outside the U.S. will be billed at cost. We accept returns if we are
notified within ten days of your receipt of the books-please ask for
full instructions and terms. Massachusetts residents must add 6.25%
state sales tax.
