Charles Scribner's Sons, 1916. The first printing was published in May; 
this is the third printing published in July. Winner of the first 
Pulitzer Prize in history. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the 
front endpaper: "to/Mrs. Turnure,/a most valued and admirable/friend of 
France,/from a sincere friend of/America/Jusserand/Washington/May 1 - 
1918." With the small amorial Turnure bookplate on the front pastedown. 
This is almost certainly inscribed to the mother of George Evans 
Turnure, Jr., who was awarded the Legion of Honor as well as the Croix 
de Guerre with three Palms and a Star for his heroic aviation service 
for France in World War I. He died of pneumonia in New York City on 20 
November 1920 at the age of 24. Near Fine. (#019554) $125.00
