Anderson, George William [Cook, Captain James]. A GENUINE AND COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE WHOLE OF CAPT. COOK'S VOYAGES, UNDERTAKEN AND PERFORMED BY ROYAL AUTHORITY. London, England: Alexander Hogg, 1786. First single-volumet edition of Three Voyages Folio, approximately 15.75" x 9.75". Half-bound red calf over buckram. Gilt labeling to spine ("Cook's Voyages"; "Hogg"; "Bancroft Library"). Fabulously wild marbling to endpapers with thousands of tiny gilt flecks throughout. ONLY very occasional browning and foxing; most of the pages are very clean and bright.

Illustrated with lovely copperplate etchings, maps, elevations, charts, About 155  copperplate engravings, the majority of which are full-page. Solidly bound.

MISSING: 1) Title page; 2) frontis engraving of Captain Cook; 3) Image of Death of Captain Cook (p. 587); 4) four-page (undated) list of Subscribers. 

NOTE:  Folding Map, pasted onto a new sheet at the beginning, is missing about 20%. Good Plus. Leather-bound

In addition to Captain Cook's first, second and third voyages, this massive work includes accounts of the voyages of Sir Francis Drake, Lord Anson, Philip Carteret, Samuel Wallis, John Byron and Lord Mulgrave.Originally published in 80 (six-penny) parts, from 1784 to 1786 -- this is the one-volume edition entitled     (instead of "NEW", title reads "A Genuine and Complete History...". )												$3500.00
