CURRIE, Barton. FISHERS OF BOOKS. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 
1932. First Edition. Illustrated with many plates and facsimiles. Extra 
spine label tipped in at the rear. INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the front 
endpaper by the author on 29 January 1931: "To E. W. Howe, whose 
THE/STORY OF A COUNTRY TOWN leads/my list of tomes to collect./With 
warmest regards/Barton Currie." Howe self-published his first novel, THE 
STORY OF A COUNTRY TOWN, in 1883. It was well-received by Mark Twain and 
others. He went on to write much fiction and journalism. A 1919 edition 
of his VENTURES IN COMMON SENSE featured a foreword by H. L. Mencken, to 
whom Howe has been compared. Spine and covers sunned. About Very Good,
