In 1965 Andrew Horn was the Associate Dean of the UCLA Library School Program, under Larry Powell. Upon Powell's retirement Horn became the second Dean of the school. He ran the "printing chapel" teaching letterpress printing.  Zapf was arguably the greatest 20th century type designer-calligrapher in the world.
