New York: Harper & Row, (1964). First Edition. Later Printing with code
"G-O" on the copyright page. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the
front free endpaper: "To Norman Peniston III/With Best Wishes/for a
wonderful future/Martin Luther King." Illustrated with photographs.
King's reflections on his 1963 Birmingham campaign, including the text
of his "Letter from Birmingham Jail." From the dustwrapper flap: "When
the man who is the symbol around the world for moderation in the
struggle for Negro equality writes a book called WHY WE CAN'T WAIT,
thousands upon thousands will recognize it as a book they have to read."
Owner name and address dated "September 1964" on the bottom of the front
endpaper and the place where the book was signed in ink at the top of
the front endpaper dated "April 24, 1966," neither affecting King's
inscription. Very Good in a Very Good dustwrapper with light wear.
