1866 American & European Patent Agency Orange Business Card.

An interesting, quite detailed card for the American & European Patent
Agency, “established in 1846 - have prosecuted claims before the Patent
Office for over twenty years”.

The agency was run by Munn & Co.; they also mention, multiple times,
that they are the editors and publishers of Scientific American
magazine, “a weekly journal for inventors and mechanics”. Though
Scientific American was founded in 1845 by Rufus M. Porter, it rapidly
became a Munn family enterprise, and was edited successively by Orson
Desaix Munn (1847-1907), Charles Allen Munn (1907–1924), and Orson
Desaix Munn II (1924-1947). In its first decades it was heavily oriented
towards inventions and inventors, as this card explains in great detail.

Heavy-stock card. 5.75”x3.25”. Minor wear, light soil. [49916] $85
