1880s Indianapolis Indiana Cancer Doctor M.F. Hurly Cabinet Photo.

A card showing the dashing Dr. Hurly in a studio pose with a top hat.
His trimmed label is affixed to the bottom of the front, and the full
label is pasted on the back of the card. Medicine seems to have been a
second career for Dr. Hurly, who graduated from Beach Medical Institute
/ Indiana Eclectic Medical College in 1887; on May 8, 1891, the
Indianapolis Journal reported: “Dr. M. F. Hurly, who advertised himself
as a cancer doctor, fell dead last night about 7 o'clock on South
Illinois street, near Maryland, as he was starting across the street.
The deceased was fifty-seven years of age, and has for years been
well-known on South Illinois street, where he had his office. The cause
of death was heart disease”.

Cabinet card. 4”x6.5”. Minor soil, light wear. [47001] $85
