First Edition. The Ninth Printing of the First Edition. The early 
printings were not large and the books tended to be well used--after 
all, many copies were not simply read but lived. Rebacked with the 
original spine laid down, gilt dull. Endpapers browned at edges, a dozen 
or so pages with ink notes. The front endpaper has an ownership name and 
statement; the rear endpaper has full-page notes by the owner to 
herself. Good only in a Fine facsimile dustwrapper. (#019959)        $500
