Large 8vo (27 x 19.5 cm), early/period half hard-grained morocco and marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers; [4], 170, [2] pp.; with the half-title page, 64 plates and in-text illustrations.

From the library of the noted collector of illustrated books, Sir David Salomons (1851-1925), with his elaborately engraved armorial Broomhill bookplate on the front paste-down (to which a later owner has appended the peculiar penciled—erasable—note: "an Israelite perhaps?"). Binding with some rubbing to the edges and joints, slight waviness to the top portion of the front board (from moisture), leaves lightly toned, but very clean and fresh. A handsome example of this marvelous collection of phantasmagorical images.
