Caroline Ticknor: Glimpses of Authors. Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin, (1922). Third impression. One volume expanded to two volumes, 8vo (23 cm), in contemporary navy blue morocco bindings by P. B. Sanford of Boston, elaborately tooled in gilt, marbled endpapers, top page edges gilt; 335 pp.

An extra-illustrated copy, but one that has been cannibalized somewhere along the way, with many of the extra items expertly but ruthlessly removed, resulting in many leaves being loose or almost loose, front inner hinges of the bindings broken and detached from the text blocks; short crack to the foot of the front joint of vol. I. That said, there are ca. 48 plates, photographs, caricatures, autographs, etc., still present, and the bindings are quite attractive.

Literary recollections by the daughter of one of the partners in the eminent Boston publishing house of Ticknor and Fields (later, Fields, Osgood & Co.), with "glimpses" of Dickens, Whittier, Lew Wallace, Mark Twain, William Dean Howells, Eugene Field, Henry James's "Bostonians", Jane Austen's grand-niece, etc., etc
