Ezra from Aardvark pulled this one from the Galilean Galaxies, where it was in orbit amid less lofty tomes.
I’d want to do ok with it, and have whomever could have it fixed or fix it themselves also do well.

Lugduni Batavorum: Fredericum Haaring et Davidem Severinum., 1699. Fourth Latin Edition. 4to. Full leather (7 5/8" x 6 1/4") 19th century rebinging (judging from the date of the newspapers used as binding materials beneath the spine) around 1837. Boards detached and present. Spine leather worn, esp at foot. . Frontis copper engraved portrait of Galileo, with additional engraved title page (after Stefano della Bella, dated 1700). These two books are Two Chief World Systems (1632) which led to his conviction by the Inquisition, and Two New Sciences (1638) on kinematics and strength of materials, written while under arrest. Added engraved t.p. (dated 1700) of Aristotle, Copernicus and Ptolemy, missing segments of right edge and skillfully mounted. Two printed title pages. [16], 494, [26]; [6], 282 (mistakenly here as 826), [4], [2] (final blanks) Followed by (after the conclusion of the Fourth Dialogue) Perioche ex introductione in Martem Johannis Kepleri: p. 448-454. Epistola R.P.M. Riccioli Almagento [sic] novo: p. 488-494. Ends with the fateful words, 'Ego Galileus Galilaei abjuravi ut supra manu propria. 22 Junii Anni 1633.'. It wasn't until 1992 that the church apologized to Galileo who was posthumously acquitted. Binding Poor, Text Very Good.. Leather-bound. $3,800
