Facsimile, numbered, limited edition. Large quarto. Full, black, textured goatskin with beveled boards, and bright gilt lettering. Boards measure 13 7/8" by 9 3/4". Front board has exquisitely beautiful drawings of winged lion, serpent and raptor, running angel, and winged ox, in bright gilt. All edges gilt. Black silk marker ribbon sewn-in. 271 pages. 

Housed in sturdy, black, portfolio box with with Companion Volume THE FOUR GOSPELS: Essays by John Dreyfus & Robert Gibbings, in black buckram with grey paper sides, printed by Memminger MedienCentrum on Profil Smooth Wove, and Bound by G. Lachenmaier, with printed spine label:. 27 pp.  Companion volume of essays shows a few minor surface scratches. A lavish production which captures the astonishing power of the Christian gospels, when projected through the brilliant lens of Eric Gill.

Originally printed by Robert and Moira Gibbings at Waltham Saint Lawrence, Berkshire, in 1931, this facsimile edition printed in 2007 by Memminger MedienCentrum on Favini feltmarked laid paper and bound by G. Lachenmaier in full goatskin with FabrianoTizianoi endleaves. Limited to 2750 numbered copies (originally) for sale to members of The Folio Society of which this is copy number 1268.
