(BOOKS ABOUT BOOKS) THE AMERICAN BOOK COLLECTOR. Chicago: W. B. Thorsen, editor and publisher. 1950-1976. Volume I, No. 1 (Sept. 1950) to Volume XXVI, No. 6 (July/August 1976), when publication ceased. 230 (of 233) issues published. This run lacking three months, Vol. XVIII, No. 2 and Vol. XIX, No. 1 and No. 2.    $1,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
This important journal started in 1950 as "The Amateur Book Collector," until the summer of 1956. At that time (Volume VII, No. 1) it became THE AMERICAN BOOK COLLECTOR. The 6 first years were published in two different sizes, in a newspaper-like format, then switched to a uniform illustrated wrapper format. All of the issues from Volume VII to the final issue are housed in 6 big slipcases.
It is very unusual to find a complete run of this journal. Particularly scarce are the issues of the first 6 years.
