“A Discourse Delivered in Newburyport, July 4, 1814, in Commemoration
of American Independence, and of the Deliverance of Europe” by Daniel
Dana. Printed in Newburyport by William T. Allen in 1814.
The Rev. Daniel Dana [1771-1859], a graduate of Dartmouth College in
1788, was a minister in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and served as
president of Dartmouth from 1820 to 1821. Interestingly, though the
War of 1812 was still ongoing there is little mention of it here, but
the Rev. Dana does take much time to deplore the state of Europe under
the heel of Napoleon and celebrate his overthrow at the hands of the
Emperor of Russia.
Disbound. 5.5”x8”, 20 pages. Some scattered minor wear and soil, top
corner torn from title page. [43544] $60
