Balthasar Munter; Thomas Rennell: A Narrative of the Conversion and Death of Count Struensee, formerly Prime Minister of Denmark... With an Introduction and Notes, by Thomas Rennell. London: Printed for C. & J. Rivington, 1824. First edition thus; 8vo (22 cm) in early/period half calf and marbled boards; xxiv + 238 pp.; with the half-title page.

Johann Friedrich Struensee (1737-1772), physician to the mentally ill Christian VII of Denmark, made himself the de facto regent of the kingdom, enacting a serious of far-reaching reforms (freedom of the press, the abolition of torture and the death penalty for theft, etc.) and conducting a scandalous affair with Queen Caroline Mathilda, before his many enemies among the nobility finally succeeded in having him arrested and executed. Binding with modest rubbing, some wear to the corners and spine ends; contents with mild toning, some spotting to the endpapers, else clean and sound, firmly bound.
