1927." In this book, published one year after leaving the Presidency, 
Taft describes the League to Enforce Peace which he founded after the 
outbreak of the First World War in 1914. A leader of the progressive 
conservative wing of the Republican Party, Taft was a pioneer in 
international arbitration and a staunch advocate of world peace. Rather
