Pierre Gaxotte: La Revolution Francaise. Paris: Editions Jules Tallandier, [c. 1930]. Two volumes, 8vo (21 cm), bound in early/period three-quarter crimson morocco by Louis Conard, marbled endpapers, top page edges gilt; 240, [6] pp.; 250, [4] pp.; numerous black&white plates. With the original illustrated wraps bound in. Light spotting to the untrimmed edges of the text block, else very clean and sound, handsomely bound. Front free-endpaper with the ownership signature of the English historian and civil servant Rohan Butler (1917-1996), historical adviser to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and editor of the multi-volume Documents on British Foreign Policy 1919-1939. An attractive example of this often reprinted history of the French Revolution, complete in two volumes.
