Original leaf from a "Nare Ehon" a 17th. century illustrated Japanese manuscript, produced in the city of Nara.  Complete manuscripts of  "Nara picture books" are very uncommon.  This framed leaf is 12" x 8 1/2" and has an illustration of a "hatter" in his shop, speaking to a customer, with the corresponding manuscript text below.
