1981. First Edition. Uncorrected Proof in red wraps of the poet's first 
novel. INSCRIBED to Stuart Wright, the publisher of Palaemon Press, with 
a four-line verse: "A Friend to the poor bard/whose lines lay here 
hard,/may he judge with mercy/and with pleasure leap." SIGNED by Smith 
in Gainesville, Florida in December 1981. Smith also adds a small 
ORIGINAL DRAWING, an apparent self-portrait, next to the inscription. 
Some separation of front cover of the fragile binding. Near Fine.
