Post, 1844. First Edition. Contemporary brown leather-backed cloth with 
decorative gilt rules, gilt-decorated and lettered spine, and a black 
morocco label on the front cover with the owner's name--Jannette E. 
Cook--in gilt. The first 6 issues of this important American magazine 
containing two stories by Walt Whitman (here referred to as Walter 
Whitman) titled "Eris: A Spirit Record" and "Dumb Kate -- An Early 
Death." Illustrated with steel engravings. Light foxing; some rubbing to 
the binding with a chip at the heel of the spine. Very Good.
