The Gentleman's Magazine, and Historical Chronicle. Volume XXVIII [28]. For the Year MDCCLVIII [1758]. London: Printed for D. Henry, and R. Cave, at St. John's Gate, [1758]. Twelve monthly issues (Jan.-Dec.), plus the supplement, volume title, indices and preface. Thick 8vo (21.5 cm) in early/period calf, gilt-lettered spine label; [4] + 641 + [1] pp. (pagination occasionally erratic, as issued); with numerous charts and tables, in-text diagrams, illustrations and plans, plus 21 copper-engraved maps and plates, 8 of which are folding (complete).
The maps and plates include:

	- View of the Fort on the ISLAND OF AIX in France.
	- A Plan of LOUISBOURG, and a Map of the Island of CAPE BRETON, North America.
	- A Chart of the COAST OF FRANCE, from Ostend to Cape Finisterre.
	- A Chart of the Coast of BRITTANY between St. Malo and Cancale Bay.
	- A Plan of CHERBOURG.
	- Plan of the City of EMBDEN.
	- A Map of THE RHINE between Wesel and Dusseldorp.

With much on NORTH AMERICA (History of the Last Campaign in N. Abercrombie after the Reduction of Fort Frontenac [Ontario]; etc.) and the SEVEN YEARS' WAR (French and Indian War), plus monthly Prices of Stocks and Goods, Accounts of Theatrical Performances, Registers of Books published, Bills of Mortality, Obituaries, listings of Bankrupts and Ships Taken [captured]; newspaper extracts; and much more.

Binding worn and rubbed, rear hinge cracked, front hinge starting at the extremities, but both boards are secure; contents mildly toned with occasionally more pronounced browning and offsetting, a couple of short edge-tears, two text leaves protruding slightly from the text block with wear to the fore-edges, else quite clean and sound, firmly bound. Front paste-down with the bookplate of Marius Nielsen (engraved by Johannes Britze).
