[NEW YORK CITY]. A PICTORIAL DESCRIPTION OF BROADWAY BY THE MAIL & 
EXPRESS. New York: The Mail & Express, 1899. First Edition. Oblong 
narrow folio (17" x 6") in original pictorial wraps rebacked with linen 
in an old, folding blue cloth slipcase lettered in gilt with ribbon tie; 
91 pages. Illustrated with 37 chromo-lithographed sheets, printed on 
both sides totaling 74 color pages, along with mostly black-and-white 
ads and an index. A series of beautiful chromolithographs that chronicle 
both sides of the main thoroughfare of Broadway from Steamship Row and 
Bowling Green to 59th Street. A scarce and important block-by-block 
record of what Broadway looked like at the turn of the 20th century. 
Contents clean with old dampstain at bottom margin not affecting images; 
covers with slight loss and some staining. Very Good in a worn folder.
