Josh and Ezra from Aardvark Rare Books today offer this lovely set of, umm, scourge-relics from our inventory , the official organ of that society of Lady Disciplinarians desiring to practice their skills and technique on the gender which most needs them. See below (but don’t turn your back).

Alice Kerr-Sutherland Society. THE GOVERNESS: THE JOURNAL OF THE ALICE KERR-SUTHERLAND SOCIETY (ISSUE VII: AUTUMN 1994). Hastings, East Sussex, England: Alice Kerr-Sutherland Society, 1994. Official journal of the Alice Kerr-Sutherland Association, in which "Full Membership is Open to Ladies Only", and to which "Gentlemen May Apply for Associate Membership". Their journal "The Governess" makes clear is "not a contact organisation". It is a publication offering articles about the art and craft of the dominatrix and describes itself as "...a group with Victorian nostalgia, designed to provide a safe and secure place for people of like mind to explore and share their experience and knowledge of a Loving Domestic Discipline (LDD) lifestyle..."
This issue, measuring 8 1/4 in. x 5 7/8 in. (64 pp.). Features a plain black and white cover and contains such articles as: “Six Faces of The Disciplined Male; The Gun, the Cane & the Captain's Lady; Confession: Is it Good for the Soul?"

In response to the May 5, 1994 caning by Singapore authorites of American teenage Michael Fay for violating the country'sVandalism Act(in which leniency was pleaded and the number of strokes reduced from six to four),a letter to the editor of The Governess opined: "...It is my opinion that the purpose of corporal punishment is to inflict memorable pain and shame, NOT injure or damage..." Near Fine. Softcover. (#86443) $175

"The Alice Kerr-Sutherland Association ©", (T.A.K.S.A.) This group is a tribute to Miss Alice Kerr-Sutherland (1870-1939). All applicants for membership (Ladies & Gentlemen) must be aged over 21! A group with Victorian nostalgia, designed to provide a safe and secure place for people of like mind to explore and share their experience and knowledge of a Loving Domestic Discipline (LDD) lifestyle. Although it is impossible to precisely define the exact nature of LDD because it means different things to different people, in terms of this site, we see it as a fully consensual agreement between two loving, committed, monogamous, (usually) heterosexual adults, in which (most commonly) the female partner takes the leading role as "Head of Household" (HOH) or "Head of Relationship" (HOR). This may, or may not include the introduction of a mutually agreed upon set of rules and conditions of conduct intended to promote connection and harmony within the relationship. Ladies and Gentlemen who share an interest be very welcome! If you are already in a LDD-relationship, are considering one, or are looking for a partner of like mind then "The Alice Kerr-Sutherland Association ©" is your home! Be very welcome: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TAKSA A word of warning: "The Alice Kerr-Sutherland Association ©" is NOT a contact organisation. We do NOT hold meetings for our membership. We do NOT effect introductions between Ladies & Gentlemen. We do NOT have chapters where people can interact together"

Excerpts: "Lady Disciplinarians desiring to practice their skills and technique on the gender which most needs them arecordially invited to advertise completely free of charge...Contact Centre: BCM Cuddle, London..." "...Like a grand musicalperformance, punishment should overwhelm the recipient psychologically as well as physically...Excluding for the moment other elements of the ritual such as choice of implement or the use of shame, in straightforward terms of pure application corporal punishment can either last a short time or it can last a longer time..."

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————Alice Kerr-Sutherland Society. THE GOVERNESS: THE JOURNAL OF THE ALICE KERR-SUTHERLAND SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL (ISSUE XIII: AUTUMN 1998). Hastings, East Sussex, England: AKS Books, 1998. Official journal of the Alice Kerr-Sutherland Association, in which "Full Membership is Open to Ladies Only", and to which "Gentlemen May Apply for Associate Membership". Their journal "The Governess" makes clear is "not a contact organisation". It is a publication offering
articles about the art and craft of the dominatrix and describes itself as "...a group with Victorian nostalgia, designed to provide a safe and secure place for people of like mind to explore and share their experience and knowledge of a Loving Domestic Discipline (LDD) lifestyle..."

This issue, measuring 9 in. x 7 in. (64 pp.) features a plain black and white cover and contains such articles as: "The Care and Use of The Hairbrush; Posture Control: A Plethora of Punishment Presentations; Have Birch Will Travel: New Light on Mrs. Walter Smith.
Lots of illustrations - line drawings mostly -- nothing improper or lewd -- exposed fannies only, being prepped for or undergoing discipline.

A letter to the editor reads: "...I am thirty-seven and my husband forty-eight and we have been contentedly married for ten years. Ours is not a partnership of equals -- quite the opposite. I have always been the dominant spouse and expect my husband to obey me at all times. I recognised my inner strength before we met and was attracted to him in part because of his respect for my natural superiority and his acceptance of my right to be in command..."

For a period, the journal ceased publication and resumed sometime around 1998, now fully enmeshed with the internet, chat rooms, etc. Near Fine. Softcover. (#86444) $175
