paneled pigskin, front cover dated "1581" with the initials "W.V.B." and rear cover 
with initials "V.D.C.F."  Binding has old dirt soiling on covers and spine, but perfectly 
sound.  Title with an 18th. century ownership inscription, and one small paperrepair at lower blank margin.  2 leaves a bit sprung.

     A nicely printed 16th. century edition of Plutarch's LIVES in Basel.  This edition     is translated and edited by Herman Croeser (1510-1574).  See Adams P1618.     B.L. German STC p.707.
