Although ex-collegelibrary (bookplate, perforated stamp on title page), a very good sturdy copy inold vellum (old stain, soil). Early ink notes on front endpaper. 

A three-part treatise on the virtues of societal meritocracy, by the Enlightenmentphilosopher, dramatist, soldier, archaeologist, antiquarian, and Fellow of theRoyal Society.  Presented in the guise ofa treatise on chivalry. (WorldCat locates very few copies in the U.S.)  Photos on our website (item 26459).
