contemporary speckled calf, ornately gilt spine.  Two central gilt stamps of the Ettal Abbey, a defunct BenedictineMonastery in Bavaria, one depicting the Madonna and child and the other two cherubs upholding a bishop'smitre and sceptre..  Top of spine with a small chip otherwise a very attractive copy.

First editions.  The uncommon folio printing of these two studies (also printed in 8vo.) by the Catholic priestand author who lived in Prague 1660-1737, regarding the haresies of the Lutherans and Calvinists.
