6 [ads] pages. John Mason Peck was a pioneer Baptist missionary to the 
western frontier who founded one of the first Protestant churches west 
of the Mississippi, the first college in Illinois, and ordained the 
first African-American clergy in St. Louis. GRAFF 3235; HOWES P-171. 
Lacking front endpaper; library ink stamp on one page and blindstamp on 
title and three other pages; text fairly clean. Much of backstrip
