IRVING, Washington. RIP VAN WINKLE. A POSTHUMOUS WRITING OF DIEDRICH 
KNICKERBOCKER. New York: Limited Editions Club, 1930. Thin octavo 
(6-1/2" x 9-3/4") bound in full green sheepskin. Introduction by Mark 
Van Doren. Printed in Kaatskill type designed and cut for the book by 
Frederic W. Goudy and set by Bertha M. Goudy at the Village Press. 
Illustrations reproduced from engravings by Felix Darley. Copy #205 of 
1500 SIGNED by the designer on the colophon page. The eighth book of the 
press and one of the most difficult to find in anything approaching Fine 
condition because of the fragile sheepskin binding. Mild sunning and 
rubbing to the spine tips. Close to Fine in most of the original 
glassine dustwrapper and a Near Fine slipcase with what appears to be a 
later printed label on the backstrip. (#020267)     $300
