ONE HUNDRED NEW COURT FABLES, Written for the Instruction of Princes, and a True Knowledge of the World....With a Discourse on Fable.  Made English from the Paris Edition, by Mr. Samber.  London: for E. Curll, and T. Jauncy. 1721.  12mo.  xxiv,396pp.  Cont. speckled calf, a few small chips on fron cover and hinges, red calf spine label.  Initials "A. B." stamped on a spine compartment.  Hinges starting, but holding nicely.  Engraved armorial bookplate of William Burton on front pastedown.  Overall a very good copy.

    The scarce first English translation of these French fables.  One of the fables is titled "The Whale and the American",  No copy currently found on-line.
