printer’s device in green on title page; text clean, unmarked. 
Dark-green silk spine, natural linen over boards, spine titled in gilt;

FIRST EDITION, thus, LIMITED to 300 copies.

This is the second book published by the Book Club of Washington; it 
contains the complete and unabridged text of the 1861 original printing 
and includes new introductory comments. Text composed in 14-point 
Linotype Estienne, title page and display type is handset Deepdene, 
printed on Mohawk Superfine paper, designed and printed by Daniel 
Cronkhite at the Sagebrush Press in Morongo Valley, CA, bound by 
Kater-Crafts. This is a reprint of the rarest of all Washington 
Territorial imprints; the only known copy is in the Beinecke Library at 
Yale University. The text documents a gold prospecting journey which 
resulted in the second ascent of Mount Saint Helens, 1853. The pseudonym 
used for the author name derives from the Native name for the mountain.
